Have you all listened to the new Pink album yet??? If the answer to this question is NO then get it sorted out guys! She is an absolute queen and this is quite possibly her BEST album to date!!!
There’s a few reasons why I adore Pink, and I’m sure any fans will agree with these ones, but not only is she bloody beautiful, ridiculously talented, hardworking and just the most A-Mazing singer/ songwriter… But her songs are soooooo empowering!
I’ve listened to the album a few times now and without a doubt my favourite song is ‘I Am Here’. Now for those of you who are yet to have a listen to this song in particular I’ve shared a few lines from the song so that you can get an idea of what I mean by EMPOWERING…
“May the light be upon me
May I feel in my bones that I am enough
I can make anywhere home
My fingers are clenched, my stomach’s in knots
My heart it is racing, but afraid I am not
Afraid I am not…”
As well as gut-wrenchingly good lyrics, the music behind the words and the backing singers just absolutely KILL IT! It really is fan-friggin-tastic.
The reason I’m talking about it is because we all have those songs that make us feel like more than what we are perceived to be. Having children we are often left with labels… Stay-At-Home Mum, Housewife, Homemaker, Working Mum… what have you.
All of these labels, while being factually correct are not all that we are. We are not one dimensional human beings defined by our choice to be mothers.
And it often takes songs like these, written and performed by bad-ass women, to remind us that we are whatever and whoever we want to be.
I’m a mother of a child with Autism. I am a wife. I am a Homemaker.
But I am also a Photographer. I am a lover of art & different cultures. I am passionate about music. I am so many things, that one label cannot possibly contain.
