AWARENESS & ACCEPTANCE
This is Mental Health Awareness week, and while I believe there is definitely much more awareness of the condition, there’s quite simply not enough acceptance.
I am a 32 year old mother of one who suffers from Anxiety Disorder and P.T.S.D. For such a long time I was ashamed of that label. Ashamed that I couldn’t handle life as well as others can. That I felt overwhelmed enough to seek help. That I need medication to be able to get through my day.
But after reading more accounts of how others experience Mental Health I’ve made the decision to no longer hide from it. And neither should you.
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS
So I’ve put together a list of signs and symptoms that indicate there may be a problem somewhere and I urge anyone reading this who recognises some of these behaviours in themselves to reach out and ask for help.
I know that a lot of these are quite vague. The thing to look out for however, is experiencing more than one of these at a time. This of course is only my experience and I’m by no means a professional in any sense of the word. I do know however, that if any of these signs ring true for you then you definitely need a little bit of help.
Please don’t feel ashamed. Please don’t feel alone. I am ALWAYS here for anyone who wants to talk or discuss certain things they’re feeling. This is the joy of social media… Someone is always on the other end of a phone or a computer at any time throughout the day. All you have to do is reach out!
