TAKING IT SERIOUSLY

It’s only since turning 30 that I’ve taken my skincare regime seriously. Before that I would happily go to bed with a face full of makeup and think nothing of it. But there’s something about turning 30 for you to realise that your supple and wrinkle-free skin won’t last forever.

I’ve tried loads of different products from loads of different brands and have finally found the ideal combination of products for me and I’m going to share them with you.

CLEANSING

These are my Holy Grail products. ‘Simple Clear Skin Exfoliating Wash’ is great for when I feel like I’m needing to get rid of my horrible dry skin. Unlike most people I have a dry T-Zone and so this is great to exfoliate the dead skin. ‘Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water’ is my everyday go-to cleanser. It’s perfect for daily use when I’ve been rocking the bare skin look and don’t have anything heavy on my face. It’s refreshing and gentle, and cheap to boot. Finally there is the ULTIMATE in Cleansing products ‘Cleanse & Polish’ from Liz Earle. It is the best of the best and there’s nothing else does the trick like it. No matter how heavy my makeup is, this can remove it. It leaves my skin soft, clean and feeling amazing. It’s pricey but worth every single penny.

SERUMS/ ACIDS

This is a relatively new addition to my regime. It’s not something I’ve given a great deal of thought to before this year, but after reading up on the benefits I decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did. ‘The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5%’ is the perfect product for gently exfoliating the skin without the harsh side effects that sometimes come from other exfoliates. In the same breath, the ‘NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex’ is also a new to my regime. It hydrates my skin and does an amazing job of keeping my dry skin moisturised.

MOISTURISING

SKINCARE

Although quite light, this moisturiser is still very hydrating for my skin. I think my combination of other skincare helps, but this really is a lovely product for combination skin types. I believe there is a heavier alternative which would probably be a better fit for my skin, but this used in conjunction with the rest of my skincare is doing it’s job at the moment.

TANNING

Now tanning for me is a difficult process. I have quite badly pigmented skin and so trying to use tanning products on my skin can often result in a bit of a patchy mess. That being said, after having trialled NUMEROUS products, I’ve found some little gems that do the job and then some. The ‘Garnier No Streaks Bronzer’ is brilliant if i have time to build up my tan over a few days as I can do it bit by bit. The ‘Vita Liberata Ten Minute Tan’ however, is perfect for when I’m short on time and only have a few hours. What’s even better is that I can apply it, jump in the shower, rinse it off and just wait for it to develop, without all the usual mess. Of course, it’s still important to always protect my skin, and that’s why I make a habit of using the ‘Ultrasun Face Protection’ whenever I’m out on those rare Scottish sunny days.

BODY

Lastly is what I use on my body and I have to admit this is where I’m really lacking. I find having to apply body lotions extremely tedious and so I’ve opted for an easy, but luxurious product from L’Occitane, the Almond Supple Skin Oil. It’s hydrating and smells divine. Forget your thick body lotions that take an age to dry, get yourself a body oil and your skin will be feeling silky smooth in no time.

So that’s my current skincare faves at this very moment lovelies. I must say, I’m often experimenting with new and recommended products, but have found this combination of skincare is a winner one for me. Give some of these a go and let me know how you get on.
