Happy August you lovely lot! Can you believe we’re 8 months into the year already? I certainly can’t. In the spirit of moving forward however, I’ve decided to set and share my goals for the month of August, in the hope that it helps me reach them. These goals will consist of Blogging, Social Media and Personal targets, all aimed at being a better blogger and a better person.
It’s important for a person to move forward in their life. Whether that be in their career, their relationship or whatever. As human beings, we strive to be better all the time and for me, it’s about pushing myself to reach my maximum potential. There’s no fun in coasting along with life when you could be doing better and bigger things. So it goes without saying that these goals are not only blogging related, but they’re also personal to my life.
Firstly I’d like to focus on increasing my subscribers for my August goals. This would mean going from my current subscriber count of 338 to 400. I understand that this is ambitious, and will be very difficult to achieve considering it’s taken over a year to get to my current number. However, I’m hoping that my other August goals will help increase my chances of reaching this number.
Part of my other goals, is that I am making a commitment to sharing a new blog post at least twice per week, starting from today. Obviously this is my first post of the month and so I have another 9 to go in order to fulfil the first of my goals!
SOCIAL MEDIA GOALS
For me, my social media channels go hand in hand with my blog. They are all related to me and my life, and so they are just as important to me when it comes to increasing my online presence and increasing my numbers.
My Facebook page The Preemie Mummy currently has 121 lovely followers. This number is low because it’s probably my least cared for platform. I’m not a big user of my personal facebook page anymore and so my blog page has suffered as a result of that. So I’m starting slowly with this and hoping to achieve 150 likes/ followers by the end of the month.
Up next is Twitter, a wonderful community I’ve only recently realised is worth the hype. A couple of months ago I would have argued that my Twitter @ThePreemieMummy wasn’t fun or useful. Oh how wrong I was. Since dedicating some time to this platform, I’ve discovered an array of beautiful writers and beautiful people alike.
The sense of community over there is second to none and I’ve found so many friends since giving it my time. It’s great for sharing posts, and it’s equally great for sharing your random thoughts. For now I’m sitting with 865 followers, but would love reach 1000 by the end of the month. Ambitious? YES! But I really want to push myself with this one and I know how wonderful it will feel if I reach that goal.
Next up is Instagram and arguably my favourite place online. I love it. It’s pretty much a database full of photographs, and being the photo-daft woman that I am means this is heaven on earth. Except when it comes to the algorithms, which makes it very difficult to be noticed let alone grow your followers. So this is my biggest goal of the month. I currently have 1203 followers on my page The Preemie Mummy but I want to reach 1500 before August is up. Again, I know it’s ambitious and perhaps a little naive, but I’m determined to at least try.
This section is dedicated to all things ME! I’m always striving to be a better version of myself and so I believe sharing these goals with you all is what’s going to motivate me not to let myself down.
I’ve been following along with the Slimming World plan at home for about 4 weeks now and have managed to lose 10.5 pounds with not a lot of effort. It’s therefore time to kick things up a notch. I want to lose an additional 14 pounds before the end of August. That’s a full stone in weight and will make a big difference to my health. I know I can do it, I just need to stay dedicated and keep my goals in mind.
MENTAL HEALTH GOALS
As well as my body I also want to take more care of my mind. This will, without a doubt, be the most difficult goal I set myself this month. Suffering from Anxiety and PTSD often makes my days quite hard to cope with, not to mention having a medically vulnerable child with suspected Autism. But I know how important it is to look after myself and so as far as goals go, I’m taking this one rather seriously. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
I am aiming to spend 1 night a week on my own, without the distraction of technology. Whether that be reading a book, having a nap or enjoying an interruption free shower.
It’s a no-brainer that a mum of a potentially Autistic toddler doesn’t have a lot of time to spare for socialising. Even more difficult when said mum struggles badly with Anxiety. Therefore in order to help my overall mental-health, I am making a promise to myself (and creating a goal) to spend more time with my friends. They’re not only my biggest supporters, but they’re some of my favourite people and spending time with them brings so much joy to my life.
And that’s about it lovelies. These are my goals for the month of August. Hopefully giving myself something to work towards will motivate me to achieve these goals, and if not then at least I know I will have give it my all. What you’re August goals? Let me know in the comments.
