MONAT Black – Full Review

Morning all you lovely lot. Hope you’re all well.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was kindly sent some of the MONAT hair care range to try and that I would give a full review once I had put it through its paces.

There are many different variations of MONAT hair care to choose from, but the product I used was the MONAT Black Shampoo & Conditioner. I believe this is in fact part of the Mens range, but to be honest it is of little concern to me.

It’s presented in a beautifully sleek matte black packaging with silver writing and a silver screw cap. It feels like a high end product in your hands and doesn’t look out of place on a bathroom shelf next to other high end hair and beauty products.

This product promises:

A complete 2-in-1 system that cleanses and conditions while maintaining essential moisture and balance for youthful, healthy-looking hair. Nourishes the scalp whilst helping boost natural hair growth and improve follicle strength to help reduce hair thinning. Safe to use on coloured and/or chemically treated hair.

I found the product lived up to its promises. After each use my hair and scalp felt squeaky clean. It didn’t strip any of the colour from my hair, which is a problem I’ve often had with other shampoos. I have very fine hair, but a lot of it, which might appear to others as being thick. This isn’t the case, but after using MONAT Black, my hair felt fuller than it had ever been.

So I mentioned before that this is a product from the Mens range, and so I believe the fragrances used were ones that might be more appealing to the male population. However, I found the mixture of citrus and minty scents to be very appealing. The mint in particular created a tingling effect on the scalp that felt refreshing and clean.

The texture of the product itself was quite wet and loose. It wasn’t like most other shampoos that are quite thick and creamy. This definitely made it more difficult to lather on the first wash, but as advised the second wash was much easier and produced a lather almost immediately.

So I think you’ll agree that the difference is fairly obvious. Before using MONAT my hair was flat and lifeless. After using it for a few weeks however, it became much fuller and healthier looking. It’s also important to note that the “After” shot of my hair hasn’t been styled”.

It’s actually amazing looking at these images and seeing such a big difference to my usually limp and frizzy hair.

This particular product comes in at an RRP of £32.

So I suppose this is where I decide whether it’s worth the money or not?

It’s a difficult question to answer.

It’s definitely a massive amount more expensive than I would ever spend on hair care products, but it really did deliver great results. I know that many people, myself included, spend inordinate amounts of money on skincare and makeup. This has become the norm. So why then do we feel so torn and guilt ridden about investing the same amount of money in our hair?

Personally speaking, the MONAT range is outwith my price range at the minute, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who has the cash to spend on it.

Score: 8/10

There you have it, my full and very thorough review of this wonderful hair care range. You’ll have guessed from my scores that it sailed through its vigorous testing and came out pretty high.

My final score is: 46/50

I’d say that’s pretty good going considering I had never heard of this company or their products before I was sent them.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say that I was sent this product to try with absolutely no obligation to provide a positive review. These are all of my own findings and they are 100% my honest opinions on the product.

Feel free to buy it, enjoy it and reap the silky haired benefits!!!
