This post is a throwback to last year when we spent a few days in Liverpool for our first family holiday.
We got the train from Glasgow and it was such a stress-free journey from start to finish.
It is by far, my absolute favourite city i’ve ever visited!
This probably had a lot to do with the beautiful weather we had while we were there… but in all honesty the combination of the culture and the friendliness of the people was just unbelievable.
We stayed in a hotel across from the Albert Docks (which were by far my favourite part of it all) and our morning views were just sublime.
At night the place just lit up and came to life. It was a haven for a photographer! I took hundreds of photographs over the short 3 days we spent there and each one reminds me of a cherished moment!
We discovered the ‘Love Locks’ on the chained fence around the Albert Docks and decided that we wanted to leave a piece of us behind as well. It was a beautiful moment for us as a family and we can’t wait to visit it again on our next visit.
As well as all the beauty of the city, it has the MOST AMAZING shopping centre ever… And that’s a lot coming from me as it’s generally a pastime I don’t have much love for… But it was just one great shop after another… Buskers at ever corner… Street entertainers on every square… Just wonderful!!!
We done all the touristy things and visited all the museums we could fit into our short trip and each one was better than the last… A museum dedicated entirely to The Beatles… An Aquarium… A Natural History Museum… The list goes on!!!
It was the first time I had ever seen a Dinosaur skeleton in the flesh and you can imagine I was as happy as a pig in mud!
Felt like I was a little girl again.
I even managed to convince my hubby, who is terrified of heights, to go on the Big Wheel or Liverpool Eye (whatever it’s called) so that I could get a birds-eye view of the entire city. It was glorious!!!
The city of Liverpool exceeded my expectations and then some. It made our first family holiday one that we will never forget… and definitely one that we want to replicate again very soon!
